Our School

Bablake Junior School offers an outstanding environment for young people to develop and learn. Pupils enjoy coming to school and are given broad opportunities to develop, learn and acquire skills and interests that will equip them both for life and their future learning.

We are a small school where people are nurtured as individuals. This helps them to achieve all that they are capable of academically, creatively and on the games field. Most of our pupils continue their education at Bablake until they complete their A Levels. Throughout the school we ensure they make the most of their abilities and the outstanding opportunities that exist here for them.

We encourage our pupils to take on many positions of responsibility within the school and to supplement this we spend some exciting times at various residential centres. This all helps the children's growing sense of themselves and their awareness of their role within a community. A wide variety of other trips and expeditions also help reinforce the learning experience.

Admission is at age seven, or older if space exists, and all pupils have to pass an Entrance Exam. Scholarships and Bursaries are available. We follow a broad and balanced curriculum - lessons are interesting and our academic results exceptional. Our teachers' commitment to helping everyone achieve their potential is reflected in the support of our parents and the hard work our pupils put into their studies.

All of our pupils receive expert coaching in sport, and have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities. All achievement - academic, creative or sporting, is recognised and celebrated.

We have 170 pupils in our school, divided into eight classes from Years 3 to 6. Form teachers look after each class and ensure that pupils are happy and working hard to achieve all that they can.

Our pupils come from many different backgrounds but everyone shares a commitment to an education that in the words of W.B. Yeats "is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire."

Bablake Junior School is housed in a fabulous purpose-built environment and we share many fine facilities with our Senior School on the same site. These include a sports hall, swimming pool, playing fields and astroturf as well as a wonderful new theatre. See also link to Bablake Weather Station. Both schools are affiliated to the Independent Schools Council, and more information can be obtained from the link to our school's page on the ISC Information Service website.

Bablake is set in leafy surroundings, just North-East of the centre of historic Coventry, close to the Inner Ring Road for easy road links to all parts of the city, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. Follow this link to spON-LINE to visit other websites in our neighbourhood.

School coaches bring pupils from Nuneaton, Bedworth, Bulkington, Hinckley, Kenilworth, Balsall Common, Leamington and Rugby and stop at many places en route. The coaches arrive at school at 8.30 and leave just after 4.00 p.m. It is possible for pupils to stay for aftercare- homework and varied activities- for a small charge until 6.00 p.m.

We asked our pupils what they thought about Bablake Junior School. These are some of the things they said:

"What I like about this school is that I've made a lot of friends here and everyone gets to do fun things."

"There are some kind teachers and having good friends and if you get hurt then someone is there for you."

"The lessons are fun. The teachers are nice. You can trust all the adults here. I get help when I'm stuck. The library and computers are cool."

"What I like mostly about school is the Spinney and interesting lessons. I like music, art, lunches (school dinners), the clubs and the swimming pool."

"The way we are all treated with the same respect."
