Headmaster's News

This term has been a long one and it has been good to see so much endeavour maintained until the last. I hope you are happy with what you read in your child's School Report. If there is anything you would like to discuss please contact your child's form teacher or myself if necessary.

Next term pupils will only be allowed to bring in fruit - fresh or dried - for their morning snack. This will not affect lunch arrangements although please remember that a balanced diet is essential in both helping children maximise their learning and ensuring healthy growth.

Everyone will need a pair of pumps next term. These are to be worn to protect the hall carpet during gym and dance and they can be obtained inexpensively from the school shop or other retailers.

Just as another year comes to an end so to does another era. Joan and Gary Locock have been loyal servants to Bablake Junior School for many years and will be retiring next Summer. Joan has been here since the first pupil walked through the door in 1991 and has had specific responsibility for pastoral care in the school for most of that time. She has cared for every pupil and also offered mums and dads support with their anxieties. Joan has also willingly spent time listening to her colleagues and offering them solace too, including new Headmasters! Gary too has been utterly committed to the school for the last twelve years, both through his teaching and the management of our computer network. The children's enthusiastic use of ICT amply reflects this. All the children that have passed through Bablake Junior School are wiser for knowing Mr & Mrs Locock, as indeed we all are. In retirement they intend to do more sailing off the coasts of Europe. In the summer we will wish them Bon Voyage, as their next exciting journey in life begins.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term here at Bablake and am looking forward to a festive break. I am sure you are too. Many thanks for all your support. Merry Christmas!
